The Holy Father has:

- accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the metropolitan archdiocese of Warmia, Poland, presented by Archbishop Wojciech Ziemba. He is succeeded by Bishop Józef Górzyński, coadjutor of the same archdiocese.

- appointed Bishop Victor Lyngdoh of Nongstoin, India as bishop of Jowai (area 5,247, population 434,800, Catholics 130,752, priests 48, religious 35), India.

- appointed Dominic Jala, S.D.B., archbishop of Shillong, India as apostolic administrator sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis of the diocese of Nongstoin, India.

- appointed the following Members of the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Archaeology: Rev. Hubertus R. Drobner, lecturer in Church history and patristics at the Theological Faculty of Paderborn, Germany; and Professors Michel-Yves Perrin, lecturer in history and doctrine of Christianity at the École Pratique des Hautes Études, Paris; Danilo Mazzoleni, rector of the Pontifical Institute of Christian archaeology in Rome; Matteo Braconi, lecturer in Christian archaeology at the “Roma Tre” University, Rome; and Paola De Santis, lecturer in Christian archaeology at the University of Bari, Italy.
