Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, along with high representatives of States and international bodies, will attend the ceremony relating to the Havana agreements between the government of Colombia and the FARC, to be held on 26 September in the city of Cartagena de Indias.

The Cardinal Secretary of State has accepted the government’s invitation to preside at the liturgy that will precede this ceremony, in order to pray for and reconciliation of the people of this noble nation, with such deep Catholic roots and so appreciated by the international community, that is seeking to build a peaceful society. With the deepest respect for the autonomy of the institutions, Cardinal Parolin will ask that God enlighten all Colombians so that, working in conscience and with full freedom, in a responsible and informed manner, they may participate in making decisions that relate to the common good of this country, so dear to Pope Francis.
