Vatican City, 17 May 2016 – The Holy Father has appointed Bishop András Veres of Szombathely, Hungary, as bishop of Gyor (area 5,100, population 539,200, Catholics 376,900, priests 142, religious 46), Hungary. He succeeds Bishop Lajos Pápai, whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same diocese upon reaching the age limit was accepted by the Holy Father.
