- Fr. Flavian Kassala as bishop of Geita (area 10,697, population 943,698, Catholics 553,160, priests 36, religious 30), Tanzania. The bishop-elect was born in 1967 in Sumve, Tanzania and was ordained a priest in 1999. He holds a doctorate in theology from the Pontifical Salesian University, Rome, and has served in a number of pastoral roles including parish vicar, formator and spiritual director of the minor seminary of Sengerema, diocesan director of Pontifical Missionary Works, project coordinator in the episcopal office of the diocese of Geita, and professor and director of the University of St. Augustine of Tanzania (SAUT). He is currently director of the Stella Maris college of Mtwara.
