Vatican City, 11 March 2016 – The Holy Father has appointed:

- Rev. Anaclet Mwunvaneza as bishop of Nuyndo (area 4,000, population 1,597,496, Catholics 615,118, priests 122, religious 152), Rwanda. The bishop-elect was born in Murambi, Rwandi in 1956 and was ordained a priest in 1991. He holds a doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, and has served in a number of pastoral roles, including parish vicar, parish priest, member of the council of consultors and of the financial council of the archdiocese of Kigali, parish priest of Kicukiro and visiting professor of canon law in the Seminary of Nyakibanda, diocesan director of Caritas Rwanda, president of the Commission "Justice and Peace" of the archdiocese of Kigali, and defender of the bond in the interdiocesan tribunal of Rwanda. He is currently secretary general of Caritas Rwanda. He succeeds Bishop Alexis Habiyambere, S.J., whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same diocese upon reaching the age limit was accepted by the Holy Father.

- Rev. Victor Hugo Basabe as bishop of San Felipe (area 7,100, population 590,000, Catholics 506,000, priests 56, permanent deacons 5, religious 3), Venezuela. The bishop-elect was born in Bobures, Venezuela in 1961 and was ordained a priest in 2000. He holds a licentiate in canon law from the Pontifical Lateran University, Rome, and has served in a number of pastoral roles including parish vicar of the Cathedral of El Vigia, chancellor and moderator of the diocesan Curia, pastor of various parishes, and under-secretary of the Episcopal Conference of Venezuela. He is currently general secretary of the Episcopal Conference of Venezuela. He succeeds Bishop Nelson Antonio Martinez Rust, whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same diocese in accordance with canon 401, para. 2 was accepted by the Holy Father.
