Resignation and succession of bishop prelate of Borba, Brazil

The Holy Father Francis has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the territorial prelature of Borba, Brazil, presented by H.E. Msgr. Elói Róggia, S.A.C.

He is succeeded by H.E. Msgr. Zenildo Luiz Pereira da Silva, C.S.S.R., currently coadjutor bishop prelate of the same prelature.

 

Resignation of the bishop of Sete Lagoas, Brazil, and appointment of successor

The Holy Father Francis has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Sete Lagoas, Brazil, presented by H.E. Msgr. Guilherme Porto.

The Pope has appointed as bishop of the diocese of Sete Lagoas, Brazil, H.E. Msgr. Aloísio Jorge Pena Vitral, transferring him from the diocese of Teófilo Otoni.

H.E. Msgr. Aloísio Jorge Pena Vitral

H.E. Msgr. Aloísio Jorge Pena Vitral was born on 23 April 1955 in Rio de Janeiro, in the diocese of the same name. After his formation in the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Dehonians), in which he carried out his studies in philosophy at the Sagrado Coração de Jesus in Brusque (1977-1979) and part of the course in theology at the Dehonian Theological Institute of Taubaté (1980-1983), he chose to become part of the diocesan clergy and was admitted to the Coração Eucharístico de Jesus seminary in the archdiocese of Belo Horizonte, concluding his theological studies in the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (1985).

On 18 January 1986 he was ordained a priest and incardinated in the archdiocese of Belo Horizonte, where he held the following offices: parish priest in Novo Lima in the parish of Santo Antônio do Morro Velho, in Belo Horizonte in the parishes of Santa Efigênia dos Militares and Nossa Senhora das Dores; formator and then rector in philosophy in the seminary; member of the spirituality team in the Centro Loyola of the Jesuit Fathers; vicar forane; and spiritual formator in the archdiocesan major seminary.

On 11 February 2006 he was appointed as titular bishop of Tubursico-Bure and auxiliary of Belo Horizonte, receiving episcopal ordination on the following 25 March. On 25 November 2009 he was appointed as bishop of Teófilo Otoni.
