Vatican City, 9 April 2016 – In a letter published today, written in Latin and dated 4 April, the Holy Father appoints Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin as papal legate at the ceremonies to be held in Gniezno and Poznan from 14 to 16 April, to celebrate the 1050th "anniversary of the baptism of Poland".

The mission accompanying the cardinal will be composed of Rev. Fr. Jan Slowinski, professor of canon law at the Faculty of Theology of the Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznan, and Rev. Fr. Przemyslaw Kwiatkowski, special secretary to the archbishop of Gniezno and primate of Poland, Msgr. Wojciech Polak.
