Vatican City, 9 April 2016 – The Holy Father has appointed:
- Bishop Amadeo Rodríguez Magro of Plasencia, Spain, as bishop of Jaén (area 13,498, population 670,700, Catholics 666,700, priests 273, deacons 2, religious 441), Spain. He succeeds Bishop Ramón del Hoyo López, whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same diocese upon reaching the age limit was accepted by the Holy Father.
- Archbishop Silvano Maria Tomasi, apostolic nuncio, as member of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.
- Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin as papal legate at the National Congress of Lithuania on Mercy, to be held in Vilnius from 6 to 8 May 2016.
