Appointment of bishop of Montauban, France

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Alain Guellec, until now titular of Senez and auxiliary of Montpellier, as bishop of Montauban, France.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Alain Guellec was born on 16 January 1961 in Saint-Guénolé, Finistère, in the diocese of Quimper. After obtaining a licentiate in English philosophy, he entered the seminary of Vannes in 1984 and, in 1996, was awarded a licentiate in patristic theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

He was ordained a priest on 17 June 1990 for the diocese of Quimper.

He has held the following offices: vicar of the parishes of the pastoral sector of Landernau (1990-1994); vicar, parish priest in solidum of the parishes of the pastoral sector of Brest-Centre and chaplain of the L’Harteloire high school in Brest (1996-2001); diocesan delegate for catechesis (2001-2008); member of the Episcopal Council of Quimper (2004-2007); parish priest of the pastoral sector of Le Chenal-du-Four (2007-2008); diocesan delegate for formation (2008-2014); episcopal vicar for diocesan services (2008-2013); diocesan delegate for new beliefs and sectarian excesses (2012-2014); vicar general of Quimper and diocesan delegate for diaconal ministry (2013-2014); delegate of the apostolic administrator sede vacante and diocesan delegate for the Associations of the faithful and for migrants (2014-2015); since 2015, vicar general and moderator of the episcopal Curia of Quimper and lecturer in patrology in the interdiocesan seminary of Rennes.

On 17 April 2019 he was appointed as titular bishop of Senez and auxiliary of Montpellier. He received episcopal ordination the following 7 July. He was diocesan administrator of the archdiocese of Montpellier from 11 July to 23 October 2022.

Within the French Episcopal Conference, he is a member of the Doctrinal Commission.

 

Resignation and appointment of bishop of Jayapura, Indonesia

The Holy Father accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Jayapura, Indonesia, presented by Bishop Leo Laba Ladjar, O.F.M.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Yanuarius Teofilus Matopai You, of the clergy of Jayapura, until now director of Fajar Timur – Sekolah Tinggi Filsafat Teologi (STFT) and the Saint John Mary Vianney House of Seminarians of Jayapura.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Yanuarius Teofilus Matopai You was born on 1 January 1961 in Uwebutu, in the diocese of Timika. He completed his philosophical and theological studies in the Fajar Timur – STFT in Abepura, Jayapura.

He was ordained a priest on 16 June 1991 and incardinated in the diocese of Jayapura.

He has held the following offices: parish priest of Christ Light of the World in Yiwika (1991-1997); parish priest of Saint Willibrord in Arso and dean of the regency of Keerom (1998-2002); and vicar general and parish priest of Christ the King Cathedral in Jayapura (2002-2006).

He studied for a master's degree in psychology at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta - UNY (2007-2010) and went on to serve as lecturer at Fajar Timur – STFT and director of the Saint John Mary Vianney House of Seminarians in Jayapura (2011-2018); chair of the diocesan Commission for Education and supervisor of the Foundation of the same name (2015). He studied for a doctorate in anthropology at the UNY (2018-2020), and has served as director of the Fajar Timur – STFT and again director of the Saint John Mary Vianney House.

 

Resignation and appointment of the bishop of Thái Bình, Viêt Nam

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Thái Bình, Viêt Nam, presented by Bishop Pierre Nguyên Văn Dê, S.D.B.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Dominic Dang Van Cau, of the diocese of Thái Bình, until now rector of the Sacred Heart Major Seminary of Thái Bình.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Dominic Dang Van Cau was born on 17 July 1962, in the province and diocese of Thái Bình. From 1990 to 1996 he attended Saint Joseph's Major Seminary in Hà Nôi.

He was ordained a priest on 9 March 1996 for the diocese of Thái Bình.

He has held the following positions: secretary to the ibshop of Thái Bình (1996-2000); master's degree with specialization in Catechetical Pastoral Care from the Institut Catholique de Paris (2000-2005); secretary to the bishop of Thái Bình (2005-2009); parish priest of Vang Lang (2009-2013); professor of catechesis and fundamental theology at Saint Joseph's Major Seminary in Hà Nôi (2009-2013); head of the Commission for Catechesis of the diocese of Thái Bình (2009-2016); dean of the Hung Yen Deanery and bishop's representative in Hung Yen (2014-2016); and since 2019, rector of the Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Thái Bình.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Opole, Poland

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Waldemar Musioł, of the clergy of the diocese of Opole, Poland, director of the diocesan Pastoral Office, as auxiliary bishop of the same diocese, assigning him the titular see of Bagi.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Waldemar Musioł was born on 10 November 1976 in Krapkowice, diocese of Opole. He attended the major seminary of Opole and, in 2001, he was awarded a bachelor’s degree in pastoral theology.

He was ordained a priest on 2 June 2001 for the same diocese.

He has held the following roles: vicar of the parish of Saints Peter and Paul in Nysa (2001-2005) and of the Blessed Czesław in Opole (2005-2006); official (2006-2009) and subsequently director (since 2009) of the diocesan Pastoral Office; and rector of the Church of Saint Sebastian in Opole (2008-2013).

Since 2021 he has served as moderator of the diocesan Social Group and was appointed as secretary of the Pastoral Committee of the Polish Episcopal Conference.
