A seguito del motu proprio: Fidelis dispensator et prudens, del 24 febbraio 2014, con cui è stata costituita la Segreteria per l'Economia presieduta da S.E.R. il Card. George Pell, e a seguito dell’istituzione del Consiglio per l'Economia e della nomina di S.E.R. il Card. Reinhard Marx quale Cardinale coordinatore di questo organo, il Santo Padre ha provveduto a nominare Mons. Brian Ferme quale Prelato Segretario del Consiglio per l'Economia. 

Il Prelato Segretario ha il compito di coadiuvare il Cardinale Coordinatore nell'espletamento delle funzioni del Consiglio per l'Economia, le cui competenze attengono all'indirizzo e alla vigilanza sulle attività  amministrative e finanziarie degli enti economici della Santa Sede. 

Mons. Brian Ferme, Prelato Segretario del Consiglio per l'Economia
Mons. Brian Ferme è nato nel 1955, ed è sacerdote della diocesi di Portsmouth (Inghilterra). Ha svolto studi filosofici, teologici e canonistici in Melbourne, Oxford e Roma. Mons. Ferme è autore di numerose pubblicazioni e articoli scientifici, è stato professore di Diritto Canonico presso la Pontificia Università Gregoriana e successivamente presso la Pontificia Università Lateranense, della cui Facoltà di Diritto Canonico è diventato decano nel 2000.
Nel 2003, a Washington, è stato Decano della Facoltà di Diritto Canonico della Catholic University of America, per poi trasferirsi a Venezia quale Preside della Facoltà di Diritto Canonico San Pio X.
Mons. Ferme collabora con diversi dicasteri della Curia Romana, in particolare è consultore della Congregazione per la Dottrina della Fede e del Pontificio Consiglio per i Testi Legislativi.

Following the motu proprio: Fidelis dispensator et prudens (24 February 2014), which establishes the Secretariat for the Economy presided over by His Eminence Cardinal George Pell, and following the institution of the Council for the Economy and the appointment of His Eminence Cardinal Reinhard Marx as Cardinal coordinator of this organ, the Holy Father has nominated Msgr. Brian Ferme as Prelate Secretary of the Council for the Economy.
The Prelate Secretary has the task of assisting the Cardinal Coordinator in the fulfilment of the functions of the Council for the Economy, whose competences are associated with the guidance and supervision of the administrative and financial activities of the economic entities of the Holy See.

Msgr. Brian Ferme, Prelate Secretary of the Council for the Economy
Msgr. Brian Ferme was born in 1955, and is a priest in the diocese of Portsmouth, England. He completed his philosophical, theological and canonical studies in Melbourne, Oxford and Rome.
Msgr. Ferme is the author of numerous scientific publications and articles. He has served as professor of Canon Law at the Gregorian Pontifical University and subsequently at the Pontifical Lateran University, where he became Dean of the Faculty of Canon Law in 2000.
In 2003, in Washington, he became Dean of the Faculty of Canon Law at the Catholic University of America, after which he transferred to Venice as Head of the St. Pius X Faculty of Canon Law.
Msgr. Ferme collaborates with various dicasteries of the Roman Curia; in particular, he is a consultor of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts.
