The meeting of the Plenary Commission took place in a good and open atmosphere. The Delegation of the Holy See was headed by Monsignor Ettore BALESTRERO, Under-Secretary for Relations with States and the Delegation of the State of Israel was headed by Mr. Danny AYALON, MK, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

At the start of the meeting, reference was made to the telegram sent by His Eminence Tarcisio Cardinal Bertone, the Secretary of State of His Holiness, to H.E. Benyamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the State of Israel, conveying Pope Benedict XVI's assurances of his prayers and his solidarity with the families of those who lost their lives, to the wounded and to all who were affected by the recent forest fire in northern Israel, as well as "his appreciation for the rescue efforts which were carried out with such selfless dedication," and his prayers "that those who have lost their homes in this tragedy may soon be able to rebuild their lives."

The Plenary discussed the next steps towards conclusion of the Agreement.

The Plenary will hold its next meeting on 16 June 2011 at the Vatican. The next "Working Level" meeting will take place on 3 February 2011.

La riunione della Commissione Plenaria ha avuto luogo in un’atmosfera buona e aperta. La Delegazione della Santa Sede era guidata da Mons. Ettore Balestrero, Sotto-Segretario per i Rapporti con gli Stati e la Delegazione dello Stato d’Israele era guidata dal Sig. Danny Ayalon, M.K., Vice-Ministro degli Affari Esteri.

All’inizio della riunione è stato fatto riferimento al telegramma inviato da Sua Eminenza il Cardinale Tarcisio Bertone, Segretario di Stato di Sua Santità, a S.E. il Sig. Benyamin Netanyahu, Primo Ministro dello Stato d’Israele, con il quale si trasmetteva l’assicurazione delle preghiere e della solidarietà di Papa Benedetto XVI per le famiglie di coloro che hanno perso la vita, per i feriti e per tutti coloro che sono stati colpiti dai recenti incendi boschivi nel Nord d’Israele, come pure "il Suo apprezzamento per gli sforzi compiuti nei soccorsi, che sono stati condotti con generosa dedizione" e le Sue preghiere "affinché coloro che hanno perso le loro case in questa tragedia possano presto essere in grado di ricostruire le proprie vite"

La Plenaria ha discusso i prossimi passi in vista della conclusione dell’Accordo.

La prossima riunione della Plenaria si terrà il 16 giugno 2011, in Vaticano. Il prossimo incontro del "Gruppo di Lavoro" avrà luogo il 3 febbraio 2011.
