Questa mattina, il Santo Padre Benedetto XVI ha ricevuto in Udienza il Primo Ministro dell’Australia, On. Kevin Rudd, il quale, successivamente, si è incontrato con Sua Eminenza il Sig. Cardinale Tarcisio Bertone, Segretario di Stato.
Nel corso dei cordiali colloqui, sono stati ricordati il viaggio del Santo Padre a Sydney, nel luglio 2008, per la Giornata Mondiale della Gioventù e l’ottimo spirito di collaborazione tra le Autorità ecclesiastiche e civili che ne ha caratterizzato l’organizzazione. Ci si è inoltre soffermati sull’attuale situazione internazionale e regionale, con riferimento sia al rispetto della libertà religiosa sia alle problematiche ambientali.

Today, 9 July 2009, the Holy Father received in audience Kevin Rudd, prime minister of Australia, who subsequently went on to meet with Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone S.D.B.
During the cordial discussions mention was made of the Holy Father's trip to Sydney in July 2008 for World Youth Day, recollecting the great spirit of collaboration between the ecclesiastical and civil authorities that characterised the organisation of that event. Attention also focused on the current international and regional situation, with reference to both respect for religious liberty and environmental problems.
