Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Westminster, England

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Paul James Curry, of the clergy of Westminster, England, parish priest of Our Lady of Victories of Kensington, as auxiliary bishop of the same archdiocese, assigning him the titular see of Ramsbiria.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. James Curry was born in Stepney, London, on 1 June 1960. He carried out his studies for the priesthood at Allen Hall Seminary and was awarded a bachelor’s degree in theology from the Université Catholique de Louvain.

He was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Westminster on 17 May 1986.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Precious Blood in Edmonton (1986-1990), parish vicar of Saint Francis of Assisi in Notting Hill (1990-1994), personal secretary to the Archbishop of Westminster, firstly Cardinal Hume (1994-1999), then Cardinal Murphy O’Connor (2000-2002), parish priest of Our Lady of Grace and Saint Edward in Chiswick (2002-2008), parish priest of Our Lady of Victories in Kensington (since 2008), episcopal vicar for the West Zone of London (2013-2016), dean of the Presbyteral Council and member of the Episcopal Council (since 2013), and chaplain of the Mayor of Kensington and Chelsea (2021-2022).
