Resignation of bishop of Mar del Plata, Argentina, and appointment of apostolic administrator sede vacante

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Mar del Plata, Argentina, presented by Bishop Gustavo Larrazabal, C.M.F., and has appointed Bishop Ernesto Giobando, S.J., auxiliary of Buenos Aires, Argentina, as apostolic administrator of the same sede vacante.

In addition, the Holy Father has disposed that Bishop Gustao Larrazabal, C.M.F., will continue to hold the office of auxiliary bishop of San Juan de Cuyo, conserving the titular see of Buslacena.

 

Resignation and appointment of bishop of Wamba, Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Wamba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, presented by Bishop Janvier Kataka Luvete.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Emmanuel Ngona Ngotsi, M.Afr., until now provincial superior of the Missionaries of Africa – Province of Central Africa, as bishop of the diocese of Wamba, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Emmanuel Ngona Ngotsi, M.Afr., was born on 1 January 1960 in Bambu-Mines, in the diocese of Bunia, Democratic Republic of the Congo. He studied philosophy in Bambu-Mines, and after an apprenticeship in Burkina Faso, theology at the Institut Catholique de Toulouse. He joined the Missionaries of Africa in Bambu-Mines, and was ordained a priest on 22 August 1990 in Fataki, Bunia.

Following ordination, he first held the roles of parish vicar (1990-1994) and then parish priest (1994-1996) in Birni N’koni in Niger. After obtaining a licentiate in social sciences from the Institut Catholique de Paris (1996-1999), he went on to serve as parish priest in Zinder, Niger (1999-2004), delegate to the General Chapter in Rome (2004), provincial assistant in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (2005-2008), rector of the Philosophate of the White Fathers in Ouagadougou (2008-2009), provincial in Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (2009-2010), and member of the General Council of the Missionaries of Africa in Rome (2010-2016). Since 2017 he has served as provincial superior of the Missionaries of Africa in Bukavu, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He is also a member of the Presbyteral Council and the College of Consultors of the archdiocese of Bukavu.

 

Appointment of bishop of Kilwa-Kasenga, Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Désiré Lenge Mukwenye as bishop of Kilwa-Kasenga, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Msgr. Désiré Lenge Mukwenye has hitherto served as diocesan administrator of the same ecclesiastical circumscription.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Désiré Lenge Mukwenye was born on 2 March 1966 in Lwanza. He studied philosophy and theology at the Saint-Paul Major Seminary in Kambikila, Lubumbashi. After a year at the parish of Saint-André in Kilwa, he was ordained a priest on 31 July 1994.

Following ordination, he first held the roles of parish priest of the Saint Charles Lwanga parish in Lupembe (1994-1998), procurator of the diocese of Lubumbashi (1998-2002), and coadjutor of Santa Maria della Speranza, diocese of Rome (2003-2008). He was awarded a licentiate in biblical theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome (2003-2008). He was a collaborator in the parishes of Immacolata Concezione and Spirito Santo in Torre Annunziata, archdiocese of Naples (2008-2011), and after obtaining a licentiate in biblical spirituality from the Pontifical Gregorian University, he carried out doctoral research in Münster, Germany (2011-2012). He served as a lecturer and spiritual director in the Saint-Paul Seminary of Lubumbashi (2013-2016), and went on to receive a doctorate in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University (2016). He was provincial secretary for formation and studies (2016-2019) and vicar general of the diocese of Kilwa-Kasenga (2018-2021).

Since 2016 he has been rector of the Université Technologique Katumba Mwanke and professor at the seminary of Lubumbashi, and since 2021, diocesan administrator of Kilwa-Kasenga.
