Telegram of the Holy Father, signed by the Cardinal Secretary of State, for the victims of the hurricane in Acapulco, Mexico, 27.10.2023

The following is the telegram of condolence for the victims of the hurricane that has devastated Acapulco, Mexico, sent on behalf of the Holy Father Francis by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin to Archbishop Leopoldo González González, metropolitan of the city:

HIS HOLINESS FRANCIS, PROFOUNDLY SORROWED TO HEAR OF THE NATURAL DISASTER AFFECTING THE COASTS OF GUERRERO, CAUSING VICTIMS, CASUALTIES AND MAJOR MATERIAL DAMAGE, OFFERS FERVENT PRAYERS FOR THE ETERNAL REPOSE OF THE DECEASED, WHILE ASKING THE LORD TO GRANT HIS CONSOLATION TO THOSE WHO ARE SUFFERING THE DEVASTATING EFFECTS OF THE HURRICANE AND PRAYS THAT FEELINGS OF HEARTFELT CHARITY MAY GROW IN THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY TO COLLABORATE IN THE REBUILDING OF THE AFFECTED AREAS.

THE HOLY FATHER ALSO WISHES TO EXTEND HIS SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO THE RELATIVES OF THE DEPARTED, AS WELL AS HIS PATERNAL CARE AND SPIRITUAL CLOSENESS TO THE WOUNDED AND AFFLICTED OF THE DEAR PEOPLE OF ACAPULCO, TO WHOM HE WARMLY IMPARTS THE COMFORTING APOSTOLIC BLESSING AS A SIGN OF FAITH AND HOPE IN THE RISEN CHRIST.
