Resignation of bishop of Amos, Canada, and union in persona episcopi of the dioceses of Amos and Rouyn-Noranda

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Amos, Canada, presented by Bishop Gilles Lemay.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Guy Boulanger of Rouyn-Noranda as bishop of Amos, Canada, uniting the two dioceses in persona episcopi.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Joseph Ferdinand Guy Boulanger was born on 6 June 1963 in Whitton. He entered the Sherbrook Seminary, where he carried out his secondary studies. He enrolled at the Université de Sherbrooke, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in civil law. He continued his studies in philosophy at Sherbrooke and in theology at the Université Laval of Québec.

He was ordained a priest on 26 October 1991 for the archdiocese of Sherbrooke.

He attended courses in canon law at the Université de Saint-Paul in Ottawa, obtaining a doctorate in 2007.

On 31 January 2020 he was appointed bishop of Rouyn-Noranda, and received episcopal consecration the following 28 August.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Tōkyō, Japan

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Andrea Lembo, P.I.M.E., currently regional superior of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions for East Asia, as auxiliary bishop of Tōkyō, Japan, assigning him the titular see of Mulia.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Andrea Lembo, P.I.M.E., was born on 2 May 1974 in Treviglio, Italy. After attending the P.I.M.E. International Theological Seminary in Monza, he spent a year at the regional House of the P.I.M.E. in Detroit, United States of America. He subsequently obtained a bachelor’s degree in theology from the Divine Word School of Theology in Tagaytay, Philippines, and attended the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy.

He gave his definitive vows in the P.I.M.E. in 2003, and was ordained a priest on 12 June 2004 in Milan.

After ordination, he first served as chargé of missionary and vocational animation for the P.I.M.E. in the community of Villa Grugana (2004-2008), and then studied Japanese (2009-2011). He was coadjutor in the parish of Itabashi, Tōkyō (2011-2012) and coadjutor in the parish of Narashino, Tōkyō (2012-2017). He is currently regional superior of the P.I.M.E. in Japan (2017-2023), parish priest of Fuchū, Tōkyō (since 2017), director of the formation centre of the Shinsei-Kaikan faith (since 2021), member of the Presbyteral Council of the archdiocese of Tōkyō (since 2022), and regional superior of the P.I.M.E. for East Asia (since 2023).
