On the days 17 to 19 July 2023, Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi, archbishop of Bologna and president of the Italian Episcopal Conference, accompanied by an official of the Secretariat of State, will travel to Washington as the Holy Father Francis’ envoy.

The visit will take place in the context of the mission to promote peace in Ukraine, and aims at the exchange of ideas and opinions on the tragic situation and to support humanitarian initiatives to alleviate the suffering of the most afflicted and fragile people, especially children.
