Resignation of vicar apostolic of Aleppo of the Latins, Syria, and appointment of apostolic administrator sede vacante

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the apostolic vicariate of Aleppo of the Latins, Syria, presented by Bishop George Abou Khazen, O.F.M.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Raimondo Girgis, O.F.M., until now vicar general of the apostolic vicariate of Aleppo of the Latins, Syria, as apostolic administrator sede vacante of the same circumscription.

 

Resignation of military ordinary for Bolivia and appointment of auxiliary bishop of San Ignacio de Velasco, Bolivia

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation presented by Bishop Fernando Bascopé Müller, S.D.B., from the office of military ordinary for Bolivia, and at the same time appointed him auxiliary bishop of the diocese of San Ignacio de Velasco, Bolivia, assigning him the titular see of Fidoloma.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Fernando Bascopé Müller was born in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, on 4 April 1962. On 22 August 1987 he gave his solemn profession as a Salesian religious brother, and was ordained a priest on 23 September 1991.

He qualified as profesor de Educación Secundaria con Especialidad en Filosofía y Religión, from the Instituto Superior Pedagógico Particular Salesiano. He holds a licentiate in philosophy from the Universidad Privada del Valle and in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome.

He has held the following offices in the Society to which he belongs: professor of preventive system in the pre-novitiate, vicar of the post-novitiate community, director of the Community for the formation of the novitiate and post-novitiate, national delegate of Salesian youth pastoral care and provincial counsellor, then master of novices and subsequently director, again in the Salesian province of Bolivia.

He has also served as secretary for pastoral care of the Bolivian Episcopal Conference.

On 15 July 2010 he was elected titular bishop of Naratcata, and auxiliary of the diocese of El Alto, and received episcopal ordination on 9 September of the same year.

On 24 September 2014 he was appointed as military ordinary for Bolivia.
