Resignation and appointment of metropolitan archbishop of Bari-Bitonto, Italy

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the metropolitan archdiocese of Bari-Bitonto, Italy, presented by Archbishop Francesco Cacucci.

The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Giuseppe Satriano as metropolitan archbishop of Bari-Bitonto, Italy, transferring him from the archdiocese of Rossano-Cariati.

Curriculum vitae

Archbishop Giuseppe Satriati was born on 8 September 1960 in Brindisi, in the archdiocese of the same name. After his studies at the scientific lyceum of Brindisi, he entered the regional seminary of Molfetta, where he prepared for the priesthood.

He was ordained a priest on 28 September 1985 for the archdiocese of Brindisi-Ostuni.

In 2012 he was awarded a licentiate in bioethics from the Pontifical Athenaeum “Regina Apostolorum”, Rome.

He has held the following offices: educator and spiritual father in the diocesan seminary of Ostuni, with responsibility for the Vocational Guidance Group (1984-1993); teacher of religion at the San Giovanni Bosco state middle school and at the L. Pepe state scientific lyceum of Ostuni (1985-1997); parish vicar of the parish of Maria Santissima Annunziata, Ostuni (1993-1997); priest fidei donum in Kenya-Marsabit, first as a collaborator and then as parish priest (1997-2000); and rector of the diocesan seminary (2001-2003). In 1985 he became canon and in 1991, canon of the Cathedral Chapter of Ostuni.

He was episcopal vicar for the Clergy and Consecrated Life, chaplain of the Rosa Marina Tourist Village of Ostuni, head of the permanent deaconate and the instituted ministries, assistant to the Missionaries of the Kingship, coordinator of the Missionary Priests of the Kingship, head of formation of young priests, delegate of the Council for Economic Affairs, and general secretary of the Diocesan Synod. In 2003 he was appointed as vicar general.

He was appointed as archbishop of Rossano-Cariati on 15 July 2014, receiving episcopal consecration the following 3 October.

He is secretary of the Commission for the Evangelization of Peoples and Cooperation among the Churches of the C.E.I. In the Regional Episcopal Conference he chairs the Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith, Proclamation and Catechesis.

 

Resignation of bishop of Ascoli Piceno, Italy, and appointment of apostolic administrator

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Ascoli Piceno, Italy, presented by Bishop Giovanni D’Ercole F.D.P., and at the same time appointed Bishop Domenico Pompili of Rieti as apostolic administrator of the same see.
