Promulgation of Decrees of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, 22.02.2020

Yesterday, 21 February 2020, the Holy Father Francis received in audience His Eminence Cardinal Angelo Becciu, prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. During the audience, the Supreme Pontiff authorised the same Congregation to promulgate the decrees regarding:

- the miracle, attributed to the intercession of Blessed Lazarus, known as Devasahayam, layperson, martyr; born on 23 April 1712 in the village of Nattalam, India, and killed in hatred of the faith in Aralvaimozhy, India, on 14 January 1752;

 - the miracle, attributed to the intercession of the Blessed Maria Francesca di Gesù (née Anna Maria Rubatto), founder of the Capuchin Tertiary Sisters of Loano; born in Carmagnola, Italy on 14 February 1844, and died in Montevideo, Uruguay on 6 August 1904;

-  the miracle attributed to the intercession of the Venerable Servant of God Carlo Acutis, layperson; born in London, England on 3 May 1991, and died in Monza, Italy on 12 October 2006;

-  the martyrdom of the Servants of God Rutilio Grande García, professed priest of the Society of Jesus, and 2 companions, laypersons, killed in El Salvador in hatred of the faith on 12 March 1977;

-  the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Emilio Venturini, diocesan priest, founder of the Congregation of the Sister Servants of Our Lady of Sorrows; born in Chioggia, Italy on 9 January 1842 and died there on 1 December 1905;

-  the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Pirro Scavizzi, diocesan priest; born in Gubbio, Italy on 31 March 1884, and died in Rome on 9 September 1964;

-  the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Emilio Recchia, professed priest of the Congregation of the Stigmata of Our Lord Jesus Christ; born in Verona, Italy on 19 February 1888, and died there on 27 June 1969;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Mario Hiriart Pulido, layperson; born in Santiago de Chile, Chile on 23 July 1931, and died in Milwaukee, United States of America on 15 July 1964.
