The Holy Father has appointed as vice chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, with specific competence for the communication sector, the Reverend Msgr. Dario Edoardo Viganò, currently assessor of the Dicastery for Communication.

The Holy Father has appointed as Holy See Permanent Observer at the Organization of American States (O.S.A.) the Reverend Msgr. Mark Gerard Miles, nunciature counsellor.
Msgr. Mark Gerard Miles was born in Gibraltar, Great Britain, on 13 May 1967. He was ordained a priest on 14 September 1996 and incardinated in Gibraltar. He holds a degree in canon law.
He entered the Holy See diplomatic service on 1 July 2003, and has worked in the Papal Representations in Ecuador and Hungary, and in the Section for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State.
He knows English, Italian, Spanish and French.
