Resignation of the metropolitan archbishop of Kingston, Canada, and appointment of the new metropolitan archbishop

The Holy Father Francis has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the archdiocese of Kingston, Canada, presented by H.E. Msgr. Brendan Michael O’Brien.

The Pope has appointed as metropolitan archbishop of the archdiocese of Kingston, Canada, H.E. Msgr. Michael Mulhall, currently bishop of Pembroke.

The archbishop-elect was born in Pembroke, Ontario, Canada, in 1962. He holds a licentiate in patrology from the Augustinianum Patristic Institute of Rome. He was ordained a priest in 1989 and has exercised his ministry in various parishes as parish vicar, vicar forane and parish priest, and also serving as an official of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches from 1994 to 2002. He was appointed as bishop of Pembroke in 2007.
