The Credential Letters of the Ambassador of Armenia to the Holy See, 09.03.2019

At 10.00 this morning, the Holy Father Francis received in audience H.E. Mr. Garen Nazarian, ambassador of Armenia to the Holy See, on the occasion of the presentation of his credential letters.

The following is a brief biography of the new ambassador:

 

H.E. Mr. Garen Nazarian
Ambassador of Armenia to the Holy See

H.E. Mr. Garen Nazarian was born in 1966 in Armenia, and is married with two children.

He has a degree in oriental studies from the University of Yerevan (1990) and a diploma in international politics from the diplomatic academy of Moscow (1994).

He entered the diplomatic service in 1991, covering the following roles: political official and, subsequently, head of secretariat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1991-1996); ambassador, permanent representation at the United Nations in Geneva (1996-2002); advisor to the ministry of Foreign Affairs: USA-Armenia task force (2001-2005); ambassador of Armenia to the Islamic Republic of Iran in Teheran (2005-2009); ambassador, permanent representation at the United Nations in New York (2009-2014); deputy foreign minister (from 2014 to 2018).
