Appointment of auxiliary of Perugia-Città della Pieve, Italy

The Holy Father Francis has appointed as auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese of Perugia-Città della Pieve, Italy, the Rev. Marco Salvi, of the clergy of the diocese of Arezzo-Cortona-San Sepolcro, currently pastor of the parish of San Bartolomeo ad Anghiari, assigning him the titular see of Termini Imerese.

The Rev. Marco Salvi was born in Sansepolcro, province and diocese of Arezzo, on 4 April 1954. He attended the University of Florence, where in 1979 he obtained a degree in architecture and civil engineering. He has been enrolled on the register of architects in 1991.

In 1978 he began his vocational discernment in the seminary of Arezzo; after completing the courses in theology and obtaining a bachelor’s degree in theology from the Theological Seminary-Faculty of Florence, on 28 May he was ordained a priest for the diocese of Arezzo.

Since 1999 he has exercised the profession of architect-engineer for the renovation of sacred buildings, and has taught art history in the high schools of the city. From 1983 to 1984 he was parish priest of Galbino ad Anghiari; from 1984 to 1999 he was parish priest of Tavernelle ad Anghiari; from 1993 to 2005, for two mandates, he was president of the diocesan Institute for the Support of the Clergy; and since 1999 he has served as parish priest of San Bartolomeo ad Anghiari and coordinator of pastoral unity.
