The Holy Father’s condolences for the victims of the terrorist attack in Bogotá, Colombia, 18.01.2019

The following is the telegram of condolences for the victims of the terrorist attack that took place yesterday in Bogotá, Colombia, sent on behalf of the Holy Father Francis by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin to His Eminence Cardinal Rubén Salazar Gómez, archbishop of Bogotá:

AFTER LEARNING OF THE BRUTAL TERRORIST ATTACK THAT HAS SOWN PAIN AND DEATH IN THE CITY OF BOGOTÁ, THE POPE EXPRESSES HIS DEEPEST SORROW FOR THE VICTIMS WHO HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES AS A RESULT OF SUCH AN INHUMAN ACT, AND OFFERS PRAYERS FOR THEIR ETERNAL REPOSE. IN THESE MOMENTS OF SHOCK AND SADNESS, HE ALSO WISHES TO EXTEND HIS SUPPORT AND CLOSENESS TO THE MANY INJURED PEOPLE, THEIR FAMILIES AND ALL COLOMBIAN SOCIETY.

THE HOLY FATHER ONCE AGAIN CONDEMNS BLIND VIOLENCE, A VERY GRAVE OFFENCE TO THE CREATOR, AND RAISES HIS PRAYER TO THE LORD TO AID PERSEVERANCE IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF HARMONY AND PEACE IN THE COUNTRY AND IN THE WHOLE WORLD.

WITH THESE WISHES, HIS HOLINESS INVOKES HIS APOSTOLIC BLESSING UPON ALL THE VICTIMS, THEIR FAMILIES AND THE BELOVED PEOPLE OF COLOMBIA.
