Resignation of bishop-prelate of Juli, Peru, and appointment of successor
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the territorial prelature of Juli, Peru, presented by H.E. Msgr. José María Ortega Trinidad.
The Pope has appointed as bishop-prelate of the territorial prelature of Juli, Peru, the Rev. Ciro Quispe López, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Cuzco and director of studies in the “San Antonio Abad” Major Seminary in the same archdiocese.
Rev. Ciro Quispe López
The Rev. Ciro Quispe López was born on 20 October 1973 in Cuzco. He attended primary schools among the Salesians in Cuzco. After the three-year philosophy course in the “San Antonio Abad” Major Seminary in Cuzco, he was sent to Rome where he continued his studies at the “Regina Apostolorum” Athenaeum and at the Angelicum University (1994-1997). He completed his theological studies at the Cuzco Seminary (1997-2001). He was ordained a priest on 30 November 2001, and incardinated in the archdiocese of Cuzco.
He served as parish vicar of “San Jerónimo” and “San Antonio Abad” in Cuzco (2001-2003), and then studied for a licentiate in biblical theology and doctorate in biblical sciences at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, residing in the “San Pio V” parish in Rome (2004-2011). He was professor of biblical sciences at the Pontifical and Civil Faculty of Theology in Lima and served as parish vicar of “Santa Beatriz”, again in Lima (2012-2016). In these years he has also served as visiting lecturer in various Catholic universities and faculties of theology in Peruvian major seminaries.
Since 2016 he has been director of studies in the “San Antonio Abad” Major Seminary in the archdiocese of Cuzco.
