Resignation of bishop of Veracruz, Mexico, and appointment of successor

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Veracruz, Mexico, presented by H.E. Msgr. Luis Felipe Gallardo Martín del Campo, S.D.B.

The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of Veracruz, Mexico, H.E. Msgr. Carlos Briseño Arch, O.A.R., currently titular bishop of Tricala and auxiliary of the archdiocese of México.

H.E. Msgr. Carlos Briseño Arch, O.A.R.

H.E. Msgr. Carlos Briseño Arch, O.A.R., was born in México on 4 July 1960. He entered the Congregation of the Recollect Augustinians, receiving priestly ordination on 27 September 1986. He obtained a licentiate in spiritual theology at the Gregorian University in Rome. On 20 May 2006 he was appointed as titular bishop of Tricala and auxiliary of México. He received episcopal ordination on 7 June. He was entrusted with the first vicariate, then from 26 March 2009, he became responsible for the second vicar of the archdiocese. Within the Episcopal Conference, he was entrusted with the sector of Cultural Heritage and Religious Art, and is currently president of the Episcopal Commission for ecumenism and interreligious dialogue.
