Promulgation of Decrees of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, 08.11.2018

On 7 November 2018, the Holy Father Francis received in audience His Eminence Cardinal Angelo Becciu, prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. During the audience, the Holy Father authorized the Congregation to promulgate the Decree on the heroic virtues and on the confirmation of the worship since time immemorial (“equipollent” beatification) of the Servant of God Michele Giedrojć, professed layperson of the Order of Saint Augustine; born in Giedrojce, Lithuania around the year 1420 and died in Krakow, Poland on 4 May 1485.

In the same audience, the Holy Father Francis authorized the Congregation to promulgate the decrees regarding:

- the miracle, attributed to the intercession of the Venerable Servant of God Edvige Carboni, layperson, born in Pozzomaggiore, Italy, on 2 May 1880 and died in Rome on 17 February 1952;

- the miracle, attributed to the intercession of the Venerable Servant of God Benedetta Bianchi Porro, layperson, born in and died in Dovadola, Italy, on 8 August 1936 and died in Sirmione del Garda, Italy, on 23 January 1964;

- the martyrdom of the Servant of God Angelo Cuartas Cristóbal and eight companions, pupils in the Seminary of Oviedo, killed in hatred of the Faith in Oviedo, Spain, between 1934 and 1937;

- the martyrdom of the Servant of God Mariano Mullerat i Soldevila, payperson and father, born in Santa Coloma de Queralt, Spain on 24 March 1897 and killed in hatred of the Faith in El Pla, near Arbeca, Spain, on 13 August 1936;

- the martyrdom of the Servant of God James Alfred Miller, professed brother of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, born in Stevens Point, United States of America, on 21 September 1944, and killed in hatred of the Faith in Huehuetenango, Guatemala, on 13 February 1982;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Giovanni Jacono, titular archbishop of Mocisso, formerly bishop of Caltanisetta; born in Ragusa, Italy, on 14 March 1873 and died there on 25 May 1957;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Alfredo Maria Obviar, first bishop of Lucena and founder of the Congregation of the Missionary Catechists of Saint Therese of the Infant Jesus; born in Lipa, Philippines, on 29 August 1889 and died in Lucena, Philippines, on 1 October 1978;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Dio Giovanni Ciresola, diocesan priest, founder of the Congregation of the Poor Handmaids of the Precious Blood - Cenacle of Charity; born in Quaderni di Villafranca, Italy, on 30 May 1902 and died in Quinto di Valpantena, Italy, on 13 April 1987;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Luigi Bosio, diocesan priest; born in Avesa, Italy, on 10 April 1909 and died in Verona, Italy, on 27 January 1994;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Luigi Maria Raineri; professed cleric of the Congregation of Clerics Regular of Saint Paul (Barnabites); born in Turin, Italy, on 19 November 1895 and died in Crespano, Italy, on 24 November 1918;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Rafaela of the Passion (née Rafaela Veintemilla Villacís, founder of the Congregation of the Augustinian Daughters of the Most Holy Redeemer; born in Quito, Ecuador, on 22 March 1836 and died in Lima, Peru, on 25 November 1918;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God María Antonia of Jesus (née María Antonia Pereira y Andrade); professed nun of the Order of Descalced Carmelites; born in El Penedo, Spain, on 17 October 1700 and died in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, on 10 March 1760;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Arcángela Badosa Cuatrecasas, professed religious of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel; born in Sant Joan les Fonts, Spain, on 16 June 1878 and died in Elda, Spain, on 27 November 1918;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Mary of Sorrows of the Sacred Side (née Maria Luciani), professed religious of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Passion of Jesus Christ; born in Montegranaro, Italy, on 2 May 1990 and died in Teramo, Italy, on 23 July 1954;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Lodovico Coccapani, layperson of the Secular Franciscan Order; born in Calcinaia, Italy, on 23 June 1849 and died there on 14 November 1931.
