Press Release of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue: the second Christian-Taoist Colloquium (Singapore, 5-7 November 2018), 01.11.2018

The Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue (PCID) in collaboration with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Singapore and the Taoist Federation of Singapore has organized the Second Christian-Taoist Colloquium which is due to take place at Fr. Jean Marie Beurel Centre, in Singapore from 5 to 7 November 2018.

The theme Christian and Taoist Ethics in Dialogue will be studied in its various aspects by seventy scholars and practitioners of interreligious dialogue. The participants in the Colloquium come from the Christian and Taoist Traditions and the following countries: Singapore, China, France, India, Malaysia, South Korea, Switzerland, Vatican and Taiwan. H. E. Bishop Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, (Secretary) and Msgr. Indunil Janakaratne Kodithuwakku Kankanamalage (Undersecretary with responsibilities for Taoism), will represent the PCID. H. E. Archbishop Felix Machado and Rev. Dr Peniel Rajkumar will represent the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences and the World Council of Churches respectively.

This Colloquium has two primary goals:

1. to provide opportunities for academics and practitioners of Christian-Taoist dialogue to share views and aspects related to the theme by means of the conference podium as well as informal discussions;

2. to urgently act together, with a shared sense of co-responsibility, to face the grave human, ethical and social degradation in in the world on the basis of a patrimony of moral values common to all human beings.
