Resignation of prelate bishop of Chuquibambilla, Peru, and appointment of apostolic administrator “ad nutum Sanctae Sedis” of the same territorial prelature

The Holy Father Francis has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the territorial prelature of Chuquibambilla, Peru, presented by H.E. Msgr. Domenico Berni Leonardi, O.S.A.

The Pope has appointed Rev. Fr. Edinson Edgardo Farfán Córdova, O.S.A. as apostolic administrator “ad nutum Sanctae Sedis” of the territorial prelature of Chuquibambilla.

Rev. Fr. Edinson Edgardo Farfán Córdova, O.S.A.

The Rev. Fr. Edinson Edgardo Farfán Córdova, O.S.A. was born on 21 September 1974 in Tambo Grande, a territory of the archdiocese of Piura. He entered the Augustinian Order in 1998. He completed his novitiate in Lima in 2002 and made his religious profession on 11 January 2003. He studied philosophy in the major seminary of the archdiocese of Trujillo in the years 1999-2001. He was later sent to Bolivia where he studied theology at the Catholic University of Cochabamba during the years 2003-2006, obtaining a licentiate in spiritual theology and pedagogy. He was ordained a priest on 26 July 2008.

As a priest he has held the following offices: coordinator of the International Commission of Communications and Publications of the Organization of the Augustinians of Latin America (2006-2014); vicar of the parish of “Santa Ana de Cala Cala”, archdiocese of Cochabamba, Bolivia (2007-2008); vicar of “San José Obrero”, diocese of Chulucanas, Perú, and professor of theology and spiritual director in the major seminary (2009-2010); master of pre-novices of the Augustinian Order (2011-2012); pastor of the parish of “Nuestra Señora de Montserrat”, archdiocese of Trujillo, Perú (2012-2013); professor of theology at the “Benedicto XVI” Catholic University, archdiocese of Trujillo, Perú (2013-2015); prior and teacher of professed of the Augustinian Order (2013-2017).

He is currently parish priest of the parish of “Santa Rita de Casia”, episcopal vicar for consecrated life and professor of theology at the major seminary in the archdiocese of Trujillo, Peru; and, within his Order, secretary general of the Organization of Augustinians of Latin America.

 

Appointment of bishop of Dédougou, Burkina Faso

The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of Dédougou, Burkina Faso, the Rev. Prosper Bonaventure Ky, of the clergy of the same diocese, currently permanent secretary of the African Clergy in Burkina Faso and head of the House for student priests in Ouagadougou.

Rev. Prosper Bonaventure Ky

Rev. Prosper Bonaventure Ky was born on 10 January 1965 in Toma, diocese of Dédougou. He completed his studies in philosophy and theology at the Saint Jean-Baptiste Major Seminary in Wayalgê, Ouagadougou, and in the Saint Pierre Claver major seminary in Koumi, Bobo-Dioulasso. Later he obtained a doctorate in psychology in Rome, at the Pontifical Salesian University. He was ordained a priest on 23 July 1994 and incardinated in the diocese of Dédougou.

Since ordination, he has held the following offices: from 1994 to 1998: professor in the minor seminary of Naxos, Bobo Dioulasso; from 1999 to 2000: vicar of the Cathedral of Dédougou; from 2000 to 2003: lecturer and director in the minor seminary of Tionkuy, Dédougou; from 2003 to 2010: doctoral studies in Rome at the Pontifical Salesian University; from 2010 to 2012: parish vicar of Toma; and since 2012: permanent secretary of the African Clergy in Burkina Faso and head of the House for the student priests in Ouagadougou.
