Resignation of bishop of the archieparchy of Philadelphia of the Ukrainians, U.S.A., and appointment of apostolic administrator of the same archieparchy

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the archieparchy of Philadelphia of the Ukrainians, United States of America, presented by H.E. Msgr. Stefan Soroka.

The Pope has appointed as apostolic administrator sede vacante of the archieparchy of Philadelphia of the Ukrainians, United States of America, H.E. Msgr. Andriy Rabiy, titular bishop of Germaniciana, auxiliary of the same archieparchy.

H.E. Msgr. Andriy Rabiy

H.E. Msgr. Andriy Rabiy was born in Lviv in Ukraine on 1 October 1975. He moved to the United States, were he adapted very well. He received his priestly formation at the Saint Josaphat Ukrainian Seminary in Washington. In 1999 he obtained a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the Catholic University of America; in 2002 a master’s degree in theology at the Theological Studentate of the Dominican Fathers in Washington; and in 2008, a licentiate in canon law at the Catholic University of America.

He was ordained a deacon on 15 November 1998 and a priest on 19 December 2001. He was appointed as titular bishop of Germaniciana and auxiliary of the archieparchy of Philadelphia of the Ukrainians on 8 August 2017 and consecrated on 3 September 2017.
