Appointment of apostolic visitor for Romanian Greek Catholic faithful in Western Europe

The Holy Father has appointed Rev. Cristian Dumitru Crişan, a pastor of the Romanian Greek-Catholic parish of Saint George in Paris and rector of the Romanian Greek-Catholic mission to France, as apostolic visitor for Romanian Greek-Catholic faithful in Western Europe.

Rev. Cristian Dumitru Crişan

The Rev. Cristian Dumitru Crişan was born on 11 October 1981 at Reghin-Mures in Romania. From 2000 to 2003 he studied theology at Blaj.

In 2007 he obtained a bachelor’s degree in theology from the Pontifical Institute of Saint Anselm.

He received priestly ordination on 11 May 2008, and was incardinated in the archieparchy of Făgăraş and Alba Iulia of the Romanians.

In 2010 he obtained a licentiate in canon law from the Pontifical Lateran University – “Utriusque Iuris” Institute, and in 2012 he obtained a doctorate from the same University.

Since 2012 he has served as parish priest of the Greek-Catholic parish of Saint George of Paris and rector of the Greek-Catholic Mission in France. Since 2013 he has been a notary of the Synod of Bishops of the Romanian Greek-Catholic Church. Since 2014 he is defender of the bond at the Provincial Court of First Instance of the archdiocese of Paris, and since 2016, judge at the same Court.

From 2016 to 2017 he followed the Master II at the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the Catholic Institute of Paris with a Master II degree in co-tutorship with the University “Paris IV Sorbonne”.
