Appointment of apostolic nuncio in Equatorial Guinea

The Holy Father Francis has appointed as apostolic nuncio in Equatorial Guinea H.E. Msgr. Julio Murat, titular archbishop of Orange and apostolic nuncio in Cameroon.

 

Appointment of bishop of Guantánamo-Baracoa, Cuba

The Pope has appointed as bishop of Guantánamo-Baracoa, Cuba, Rev. Silvano Pedroso Montalvo, of the clergy of the archdiocese of San Cristóbal de La Habana, currently pastor of the Nuestra Señora del Pilar parish in La Habana.

Rev. Silvano Pedroso Montalvo

The Rev. Silvano Pedroso Montalvo was born in Cárdenas, diocese of Matanzas, Cuba, on 25 April 1953. Before entering the seminary he obtained a degree in geography from the University of La Habana. He completed his priestly formation at the San Carlos y San Ambrosio Theological Major Seminary in La Habana.

He received priestly ordination on 12 June 12 1995, and was incardinated in the archdiocese of San Cristóbal de La Habana.

He has held the following positions: parish priest of Los Santos Apóstoles Felipe y Santiago in Bejucal; pastor of the parish Church of San Pedro in Quivicán; parish priest of San Julián, Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Melena del Sur and Santa Catalina Mártir in Güinés; diocesan head of vocational pastoral ministry; parish priest of Santa Catalina de Siena and director of the San Juan María Vianney Priest House in La Habana.

Since 2013 he has served as parish priest of Nuestra Señora del Pilar in La Habana.
