Resignation and succession of bishop of Warszawa-Praga, Poland

The Holy Father Francis has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Warszawa-Praga, Poland, presented by H.E. Msgr. Henryk Hoser, S.A.C.

He is succeeded by H.E. Msgr. Romuald Kamiński, currently coadjutor bishop.

 

Resignation of bishop of Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière, Canada, and appointment of successor

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière, Canada, presented by H.E. Msgr. Yvon Joseph Moreau, O.C.S.O.

The Pope appointed as bishop of Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière, Canada, Rev. Pierre Goudreault, of the clergy of the diocese of Rouyn-Noranda, Canada, currently moderator of the pastoral unit “Sainte-Trinité”.

Rev. Pierre Goudreault

The Rev. Pierre Goudreault was born on 27 May 1963 in Rouyn-Noranda. He attended the Sainte-Bernadette and Mère Brugère primary schools in Rouyn-Noranda, and the Ecole Paul VI and Polyvalente Iberville. He then enrolled in courses in human sciences and mathematics at the CEGEP (pre-university professional institute).

He entered the seminary and attended courses on philosophy and theology at the Saint Paul University of Ottawa. He was ordained a priest on 18 May 1991. He obtained a doctorate in theology from the Saint Paul University of Ottawa in 1997 and in this period was a member of the group of formators of the Saint Paul seminary, annexed to the University of the same name.

He exercised his pastoral ministry as parish vicar and parish priest in various contexts. After a year of university formation at the University of Paris (2008), he became moderator of the “Sainte-Trinité” pastoral unit in Rouyn-Noranda.

In addition, he has served as member of the presbyteral council (1997-2004), and the college of consultors (1997-2008). Since 2004 he has served as diocesan animator of the groups for sharing the faith; since 2005 he has held the role of “accompanying” seminarians and, since 2006, has been the head of programmes in pastoral leadership.

 

Appointment of bishop of Islamabad-Rawalpindi, Pakistan

The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of Islamabad-Rawalpindi, Pakistan, H.E. Msgr. Joseph Arshad, currently bishop of the diocese of Faisalabad, at the same time promoting him as archbishop ad personam.

 

Elevation to the dignity of bishop of the apostolic prefect of Azerbaijan

The Pope has elevated the Rev. Vladimír Fekete, S.D.B., apostolic prefect of Azerbaijan, to the dignity of bishop, assigning him the titular see of Municipa.

The Rev. Vladimir Fekete, S.D.B., was born on 11 August in Bratislava, Slovakia. In 1979 he graduated in mathematics and geology form the Faculty of Natural Sciences in the Comenius University of Bratislava.

In 1981, he gave his vows, in clandestine conditions, in the Salesian Society of Saint John Bosco, receiving priestly ordination on 30 January 1983 in Berlin. Until the fall of the communist regime in 1990, he continued to work as a geologist in his own country.

He subsequently furthered his studies in theology, obtaining the title of Magister at the Unviersity of Vienna (1995) and the licentiate at the Catholic University of Lublin (1999).

He has held various offices within the Salesian Society: vicar of the provincial inspector (1993-1999), inspector of the province of Bratislava (1999-2005), and master of novices (2006-2009).

In 2009 he was appointed as ecclesiastical superior of the Missio sui iuris in Baku. With the elevation of the Missio sui iuris to apostolic prefecture of Azerbaijan, he became apostolic prefect on 4 August 2011.
