Resignation of bishop of Hildesheim, Germany

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation presented by H.E. Msgr. Norbert Trelle from the office of bishop of Hildesheim, Germany.

 

Resignation of bishop of Torreón, Mexico, and appointment of successor

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Torreón, Mexico, presented by H.E. Msgr. José Guadalupe Galván Galindo.

The Pope has appointed as bishop of the diocese of Torreón, Mexico, Rev. Fr. Luis Martín Barraza Beltrán, currently rector of the major seminary of the archdiocese of Chihuahua.

Rev. Fr. Luis Martín Barraza Beltrán

The Rev. Fr. Luis Martín Barraza Beltrán was born on 22 November 1963 in Ciudad Camargo, archdiocese of Chihuahua.

In 1978 he entered the major seminary of Chihuahua and in 1981 he was sent to the regional seminary of the North in Mexico, located in Juárez City, to carry out his studies in philosophy, returning to the archdiocesan seminary of Chihuahua to study theology, up to the end of his basic priestly formation. On 17 June 1988 he was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Chihuahua.

He has held the following offices: for a period of five years he was parish vicar, and then parish priest, of “Jesús Nazareno”; in 1993 he studied in the Pontifical Gregorian University, where he obtained a licentiate in philosophy; from 1995 to 2001 he was parish priest of “Asunción de Maria”, in this period he also spent three years as vicar forane of the Pastoral Zone II; in 1995 he entered “El Prado” priestly organisation; from 2000 to 2002 he was prefect of studies in the major seminary of Chihuahua; from 2001 to 2008, pastor of the parish of “San Pedro Apóstol”, subsequently, for a brief period, he was pastor of the parish of “San Juan Bautista”; from 2010 to 2013 he was spiritual director of the archdiocesan major seminary of Chihuahua and since 2013 he has served as rector. He has also been member of the college of consulters and the diocesan council for pastoral ministry of the archdiocese of Chihuahua.

 

Appointment of special envoy to the celebration of the 600 th anniversary of the Council of Constance (Constance, 11 November 2017)

The Holy Father has appointed His Eminence Cardinal Kurt Koch, president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, as his special envoy at the celebration of the 600th anniversary of the Council of Council of Constance, to be held in the city of Constance, archdiocese of Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, on 11 November 2017.
