Resignation of metropolitan archbishop of Milan and appointment of successor

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the metropolitan archdiocese of Milan, Italy, presented by His Eminence Cardinal Angelo Scola.

The Holy Father has appointed as metropolitan archbishop of the archdiocese of Milan, Italy, H.E. Rev. Msgr. Mario Enrico Delpini, auxiliary bishop and vicar general of the same archdiocese.

H.E. Msgr. Mario Enrico Delpini

H.E. Msgr. Mario Enrico Delpini was born in Gallarate on 29 July 1951.

He received priestly ordination on 7 June 1975, and was incardinated in the archdiocese of Milan.

He holds a degree in letters from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan and a licentiate in patristic theology from the Augustinianum, Rome.

In 1975 he served as professor of ancient letters in Seveso and in the seminary until 1985; from 1985 to 1987 he was professor of ancient letters in Venegono, in the Gymnasium Seminary. From 1987 to 1989 he was in Rome as a student in the Lombard Seminary. Fro 1989 to 1993 he was rector of the Lyceum Seminary in Venegono and teacher of the preparatory community and the two-year course in theology; secretary of the circle of Lombard seminaries; from 1993 to 2000 he held the office of rector of the four-year theology course. From 2000 to 2006 he held the office of advisor to the Milanese Episcopal Council, archiepiscopal delegate for vocations and ordained ministers, and major rector of the Archiepiscopal Seminary of Milan. He has served as honorary canon of the Major Chapter of the Metropolitan Basilica and member of the presbyteral council. From 2006 to 2007 he was episcopal vicar for the VI – Melegnano Pastoral Zone.

He was appointed to the titular see of Stefaniaco and as auxiliary bishop of Milan on 13 July 2007, and received episcopal ordination on 23 September of the same year.

Since 2012 he has served as vicar general of the archdiocese of Milan, secretary of the Lombard Episcopal Conference, and secretary of the Episcopal Commission for the clergy and consecrated life.

 

Resignation of bishop of Pinerolo, Italy, and appointment of successor

The Holy Father Francis has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Pinerolo, Italy, presented by H.E. Msgr. Piergiorgio Debernardi.

The Pope has appointed as bishop of the diocese of Pinerolo, Italy, the Rev. Msgr. Derio Olivero, of the clergy of the diocese of Fossano, currently vicar general of the same diocese.

H.E. Msgr. Derio Olivero

H.E. Msgr. Derio Olivero was born in Cuneo on 17 March 1961.

He attended the lyceum and the formative course in philosophy and theology at the episcopal seminary of Fossano.

He was ordained a priest on 12 September 1987 for the diocese of Fossano.

He concluded his formation with a licentiate in pastoral theology from the Pontifical Lateran University.

He has held the following offices: deputy priest of the “Spirito Santo” parish of Fossano; rector of the episcopal seminary of Fossano; lecturer in pastoral theology at the Interdiocesan Theological Studium of Fossano; parish priest of “Spirito Santo”, Fossano; head of vocational pastoral ministry; diocesan head for culture; and diocesan official for youth pastoral ministry and tourism. Since 2012 he has served as vicar general of the diocese of Fossano.

Msgr. Olivero is the author of publications of a pastoral nature.
