The Holy Father has appointed Fr. Dominique Banlene Guigbile as bishop of Dapaong (area 8,470, population 828,224, Catholics 66,094, priests 66, religious 97), Togo. The bishop-elect was born in 1962 in Kpandéntangue-B, Togo and was ordained a priest in 1992. He studied in Ouidah, Benin and in Strasbourg, France, and has held a number of pastoral roles including parish vicar, director of the Foyer Séminaire Payenn Saint Clément of Dapaong, parish priest, and secretary general of the Fraternité national des prêtres diocésains. He is currently episcopal vicar for pastoral coordination and pastor of the St Peter parish in Korbongou. He is also member of the presbyteral council, the college of consulters and the council for economic affairs, and visiting professor at the seminary of philosophy and theology in Togo and the state university of Kara.
