Francis recalls the difficult and dangerous work of seafarers, 10.07.2016

Vatican City, 10 July 2016 – After today's Angelus prayer, the Pope mentioned that today is Sea Sunday, intended to help draw pastoral attention to seafarers and their families, and to encourage sailors and fishermen in their work, "at times hard and dangerous", and the chaplains and volunteers in their inestimable service. He asked that Mary, Star of the Sea, keep watch over them.

He also addressed a special greeting to pilgrims from Puerto Rico and to Polish pilgrims who have journeyed from Krakow to Rome, extending this also to those participating in the great pilgrimage of the Family of Radio Maria to the Czestochowa shrine, which celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary this year.

"However, I can also hear some of my compatriots, who are not quiet!" he added. "To the Argentines who are here and who are making a lot of noise, a special greeting!"

Finally, he wished a happy Sunday to families from various Italian dioceses, to the Daughters of Charity of the Most Precious Blood, to the Teresian Secular Order and the St. John Paul II Missionary Community.
