Vatican City, 4 May 2016 – The Holy Father has appointed:

- Bishop Valdemir Ferreira dos Santos of Floriano, Brazil as bishop of Amargosa (area 13,972, population 644,000, Catholics 622,700, priests 33, religious 35), Brazil.

- Msgr. Arnaldo Carvalheiro Neto as coadjutor bishop of Itapeva (area 14,150, population 447,000, Catholics 292,500, priests 47, religious 39), Brazil. The bishop-elect was born in São Paulo, Brazil in 1967 and was ordained a priest in 1997. He holds a degree in pastoral counselling from the Loyola University of Chicago and has served in a number of pastoral roles in the diocese of Araçatuba, including parish priest, parish vicar and spiritual director of the "Rainha dos Apóstolos" Theological Institute in Marília. He is currently pastor of the "São Pedro Apóstolo" parish in Gabriel Monteiro and rector of the preparatory seminary of Araçatuba.
