Other Pontifical Acts, 27.04.2016

Vatican City, 27 April 2016 – The Holy Father has appointed:

- Msgr. Edgar Xavier Ertl, S.A.C., as bishop of Palmas-Francisco Beltrão (area 18,719, population 636,000, Catholics 558,000, priests 91, permanent deacons 8, religious 168), Brazil. The bishop-elect was born in Nova Prata do Iguaçu, Brazil in 1966, gave his religious vows in 1996 and was ordained a priest in the same year. He holds a degree in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, and has served in a number of roles including formator and rector of the Colégio Máximo Palotino, professor of the theology, vice-provincial of the province of "Nossa Senhora Conquistadora". He is currently provincial superior of the same province.

- Msgr. Enrique José Parravano Marino, S.D.B., as auxiliary of the archdiocese of Caracas (area 991, population 4,776,000, Catholics 4,073,000, priests 91, permanent deacons 24, religious 1,542), Venezuela. The bishop-elect was born in Turmero, Venezuela in 1955, gave his religious vows in 1980 and was ordained in 1984. He has served in a number of roles, including chaplain of the Pius XII college in Puerto La Cruz, superior and director of the San Luis College in Mérida, superior of the Salesian Community, parish priest, archpriest of "La California", and provincial bursar in Caracas. He is currently pastor of the "San Juan Bosco" in Altamira.

- Msgr. Hélio Pereira dos Santos as auxiliary of the archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia (area 3,593, population 3,312,000, Catholics 2,798,000, priests 283, permanent deacons 90, religious 903), Brazil. The bishop-elect was born in Pão de Açúcar, Brazil in 1967 and was ordained a priest in 1996. He has served in a number of roles including treasurer of the Colégio São Vicente in Pão de Açúcar, rector of the "São João Maria Vianney" seminary, parish vicar and diocesan pastoral coordinator. He is currently vicar general, chancellor of the Curia and pastor of the "Bom Jesus dos Pobres" parish in Quebrangulo.
