Other Pontifical Acts, 19.04.2016

Vatican City, 19 April 2016 – The Holy Father has appointed:

- Fr. Constantine Bae Ki-Hyen as bishop of Masan (area 9,054, population 2,561,683, Catholics 172,949, priests 211, religious 316), Korea. The bishop-elect was born in Masan, Korea in 1953 and was ordained a priest in 1985. He holds a degree in philosophy and has served in a number of roles, including pastor of various parishes in the diocese of Masan, lecturer in the major seminary of Pusan, and pastoral ministry serving the local Korean community in Denver and in Los Angeles, U.S.A. He is currently vicar general and chancellor of the diocese of Masan. He succeeds Bishop Francis Xavier Ahn Myeong-ok, whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same diocese in accordance with canon 401, paragraph 2 of the Code of Canon Law was accepted by the Holy Father.

- Fr. Alain Faubert as auxiliary of the archdiocese of Montréal (area 947, population 2,441,425, Catholics 1,722,541, priests 889, permanent deacons 84, religious 3,823), Canada. The bishop-elect was born in Montréal, Canada in 1965 and was ordained a priest in 1995. He holds a doctorate from Laval University, Canada, and has served in a number of pastoral roles including parish vicar, assistant in the diocesan office for education, vice moderator of the Curia, episcopal vicar and seminary teacher. He is currently parish priest of Saint-Germain.
